Secret to Save Money on your Wedding Favors

I know how much money it can cost to pay for a beautiful wedding, one you have dreamed about all of your life!  I got married 6 years ago and wanted everything to go as planned.  Unfortunately, my soon-to-be husband lost his job just as we entered the planning stages of our wedding and could not find one for nine full months!  To top it off, we had already signed contracts for our vendors so we had to pay them.  Needless to say, we had to charge most of our wedding and come up with frugal methods to save a buck. 

Well, wedding favors were the last thing on my mind at the time, but I wanted to show my guests how much they meant to me.   We came up with so many ideas to make our wedding gifts cheap but special at the same time.  Let me share my special place card holder secret with you and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I did! 

Double-duty favors

This is my favorite trick!  I coined the phrase "double duty favors" because I wanted to have place card holders for my wedding, but I couldn't afford it. 

TIP: Place card holders are much cheaper than regular favors because they come in a bulk price.  You can find beautiful place card holders that double as wedding favors.  Place them at each table setting with the guest's name.

So now for the "actual" place card holders that show your guests where they are seated.  We typed up menus on our own computer and printed them on vellum paper.  At the bottom of each menu we typed the name of the guest with their table number.  We fanned them out in alphabetical order so they could find them easily.  When they got to the table, not only did they have their own personal menu, they also had a beautiful favor waiting for them with their name so they were doubly assured of their seat.  Your guests will love it and they will never know how little you spent.  It's our little secret!
