Have you ever begun a creative process and suffered a lapse when distractions hit at every side? I purposed to look through some new bridal fashions when I immediately grabbed some old photos for inspiration. In a moment of nostalgic reflection, I happened to gaze over at my mother’s old wedding pictures – a dream of elegance draped in lace and white buttons cascading down her back. Sitting next to her photographs lying on mom’s pictures covering the image of her soft, flowing veil lied a current bridal magazine. My, how times have changed! Reds, greens, purples, and yes, even blacks have paved the entrance into bridal styles everywhere.
Like a dust in the wind, the days of the white, soft, flowing, bridal gowns have drifted away in the breeze of incoming modern fashions. Of course, if you still adore tradition and a feminine touch, white wedding gowns are sure to remain forever. But if you emanate a type of rebel persona, one that likes to push the envelope, you don’t have to worry anymore about adding a splash of color or style to your wedding dress to express your unique personality.
Adding color and style is easy with all of the options available. Purple lace accents or red belts and sashes boast all the rage. Rocker girls love fingerless gloves and silver chains elongating their necklines. I have even seen full black wedding gowns, yes, from the top of the head to the bottom of the black died tulle veil! And you know what? It was beautiful because it reflected the bride’s personality.
Maybe you still love the traditional white wedding gown, but something within you desires a break from the wedding fashion status quo. Don’t be afraid to inject your personal style into your wedding day. Adorn a red rose in your hair to match your bouquet or drape a heart necklace with a colored jewel around your neck. Wrap a beautiful and colorful shawl around your shoulders for a more dramatic effect.
It’s your day and whatever style you choose will look amazing. Anything you envision can become a reality. When you look back at your wedding day pictures, you should feel happy and beautiful! Oh, and my mom, she still loves traditions…I do also…but if you ever run into her…you never saw this post!
